Hotel Pickup & Transfer
Departure from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh is between 19:30 and 21:00 (depending on your hotel location). An English-speaking guide will meet you and accompany you by bus for the journey of about 130 km to the foot of Mount Moses.
After 2–3 hours, there will be a police checkpoint where documents are required. Please carry your passport and a photocopy to hand over to the police.
Climb to the Summit
From here, the ascent begins. You will be guided by a local Bedouin, who will accompany you up the mountain.
Mount Moses rises to 2,285 meters above sea level. The climb from the monastery base usually takes around two hours.
- Route 1: 3,750 steps carved into the rock by monks.
- Route 2: An easier path created in the 19th century, where camels can be used for part of the journey (camel rental costs around $15).
The climb begins at night so that you can reach the summit in time to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Sinai mountains—a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Breakfast & Descent
After enjoying the sunrise, you will descend to a café for breakfast. It is recommended to bring a breakfast box from your hotel.
Visit to St. Catherine’s Monastery
Following breakfast, the tour continues with a visit to the historic St. Catherine’s Monastery, one of the oldest in the world.
The monastery is named after the young Christian martyr Catherine of Alexandria, who was executed by the Roman emperor Maximian for her faith. According to legend, angels carried her body to the peak of Sinai, where monks later discovered her relics and transferred them to the monastery.
